It is hard to believe that our first month of school has already passed, but as we watch the children arrive, eager and excited, each morning it is clear that the scary first days of school are over and everyone is ready to dig in.
In the Upstairs Circle we have been reviewing our colors and shapes and celebrated our first “color day” last Wednesday. Everyone was excited to share their red show and tell item brought from home (or chosen from the classroom) and the rest of the class had thoughtful observations about the treasures. Even some of our quietest friends found their voices for this special event. We have also started to learn our classmates ‘ names and find them to play with outside and in the classroom. Making new friends is so exciting for our youngest students.
In the Downstairs Circle, our love of Transformers has led to reading and discussions about Robots and a great project transforming unusable electronic equipment into a robot of our own during inquiry. We have also been noticing the Earth transforming for fall and have been singing some favorite fall songs. A herd of active unicorns has arrived on the playground and everyone has enjoyed having these gentle woodland creatures join our community.
It has been wonderful watching the children find their special places in the beautiful CNS community.
