This year, the teachers and I decided to do something different for our Professional Development day. We invited the Handwork Teacher from the Waldorf School of Philadelphia, Nicole Nicola, to come and teach us how to finger-knit. Finger-knitting is a wonderful activity to teach to young children - it helps to develop fine motor skills, it is a calm and soothing exercise, and it can be a real boost to self-esteem when a child masters the technique, but mostly, it's FUN! If you have any questions, please ask!
You can see some examples of our work when you enter the front door of the school - take note of the beautiful hand-dyed yarn that we used, as well as some of the materials used to make the dyes.
